December, 2010  
12/31/2010: Three Aca members got together on December 31 to build a new pow wow drum for our ceremony teams to use. The drum finished drying on January 2 and can be seen in left half of the photo. It has a great deep tone and will be a welcome addition to use at our OA activities.
   
12/31/2010: Congratulations to OA members Wendy Hodge and Patsy Chabot for being awarded the Silver Beaver from CIEC. This award is the highest honor that a Council can award their volunteers. Its given for a persons dedication and long term history of service to the youth in their community.
 
12/20 & 27/2010: Members of the drum team held two 3 hour long rehearsals during the Christmas break to get ready for the Detsanvli Pow Wow in February.
   
12/11/2010: Several members of Deer Run attended a small Pow Wow in Long Beach. One of our grass dancers, Cody Reddick, got the chance to stretch his legs and really perform for the crowd (far left dancer in the photo).
   
12/11/2010: Deer Run held their December weekend drum & dance practice at the Wanakik Chapter House in Riverside. After the drum they held their annual "Feed the Beast" dinner of frybread tacos.
   
12/10/2010:  Chemehuevie Clan held a special meeting to elect their 2011 youth leaders. Congratulations to the 2011 Chemehuevie Clan Officers: Clan Chief- Eddie Folts; Clan Secretary- Jonathan Cambon.
   
12/4/2010: Chemehuevie Clan members Eddie Folts, James Luna, and Ryan Munger performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 3 Webelos from Pack 71 in Twentynine Palms.
   
12/4/2010: The last Brotherhood Ceremony of the year was held at Camp Emerson. Congratulations to Kyle Isham, Ben Quigliani, Dean Lakoutas, and Patsy Chabot for sealing their ties in Brotherhood.
   
12/4/2010: Congratulations to the Class of 2010 Vigil Honor members from Aca. They completed their Vigil Ceremony on December 4 at Camp Emerson. They are Mal Maloney, Jonathan Cambon, Larry Krikorian, Nick Dutchover, and Steve Cambon.
   
November, 2010  
11/13/2010: The formation of a second lodge drum team was announced at the Saturday night show at the Fall Fellowship. New Dawn Singers will be taking their place alongside a proud tradition of drum teams from Cahuilla Lodge. They held their first public performance alongside our own Deer Run at the Fall Fellowship.
   
11/13/2010: Congratulations to the newly elected 2011 Cahuilla Lodge Officers. Among the newly elected officers is Aca's own Mark Maloney.The new officers are: Lodge Chief- Ian McCleod; 1st Vice-Chief- John Garcia; 2nd Vice Chief- Mark Maloney; 3rd Vice Chief- Michael Schmidt; Secretary- Justin Pearson; Treasurer- Billy Warren.
   
11/13/2010: 11 youth and 7 adults from Aca attended the 2010 Fall Fellowship at Camp Emerson. Our gig theme of super villains was a huge hit with everyone at the event. Almost all of Saturday was spent with moc battles of the super heroes always battling our even more mightier villains. Although we didn't bring home any of the major awards this year, the influence of the culture of Aca was obvious with every Chapter present throughout the weekend.
 
11/13/2010:  Congratulations to the Aca members who were part of the class of 2010 Vigil Honors that were recognised at the Fall Fellowship on Nov. 13. They are Jonathan Cambon, Mal Maloney, Nick Dutchover, Larry Krikorian, and Steve Cambon. Thank you all for your oustanding cheerful service.
 
11/6/2010: 3 New members joined our drum team, Deer Run, and they got to learn their first new songs on the beast. This Saturday practice was held specifically for our newest members to learn about the songs and the tradition of the drum.
   
11/6/2010: Several Chapter members met in Palm Springs for a special Fall Fellowship rally and prep meeting. Several new cheers were practiced and special plans made for our gig.
October, 2010  
10/16/2010: The first inaugural Detsanvli Trade-O-Ree was held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Palm Springs along side the Sunrise District Merit Badge Clinic. The trade-o-ree was small, but very successful. It was the very first time one had ever been held in the Coachella Valley and only the second held in our Council. Over 100 Scouts attended the MB clinic and 80 people attended the trade-o-ree.

10/6/2010:  The theme to the 2010 Cahuilla Lodge Fall Fellowship was announced. It will be "the Super Fall Fellowship featuring Sash man and the Ordeal Boy Wonder". That same night the Chapter's gig was announced. What exactly the gig is will not be announced on our website.
   
10/2/2010: The training sessions at the recent Conclave were top notch. Aca members collectively taught 4 of the 15+ training sessions that were offered: Cody Reddick and Daltin Reddick taught Native American Dancing; James Hermes taught ceremony team props and costumes; Nick Dutchover taught OA and Summercamp; Chase Hadden, Cody Reddick, and John Garcia taught Pow Wow drumming.
   
10/2/2010: He's back from the future! Our own Mr. Robot was one of the guest speakers at the Saturday night show at Conclave. The other guest speakers were Section Chief Kyle Sitarski and the OA National Chief Brad Lachota.
   
10/2/2010: The Section W4S Conclave was held last weekend at El Monte High School. Cahuilla Lodge brought home the coveted spirit award for being the most enthusiastic group out of the 4 OA lodges present. Congratulations to Daltin Reddick for winning 1st place in northern traditional dancing competition and Cody Reddick for winning 1st place in the grass dance competition.
   
September, 2010  
9/25/2010: Our own Deer Run performed at the opening campfire at the 100th Anniversary celebration of Scouting at Glen Helen Regional park. They did an outstanding performance in front of 5000 people.
   
9/18/2010: Six Aca members met up with the rest of the Lodge's dance and drum team to rehearse their show for the Saturday night campfire at the 100th Annv. Celebration of Scouts on September 25. Come help support out team by coming to the show to watch them perform.
 
9/11/2010: Congratulations to our newest Arrowmen David Bell, Tristan Bluto, Jonathen Fragen, Riley Jones, and Russell Jones for completing the Ordeal on September 10-11.
   
9/11/2010: 3 Aca members teamed up with Eric Little from Yamiwa to perform an Ordeal Ceremony at the September Ordeal. They inducted 17 new OA members in to our Order.
   
9/11/2010: Aca and Wanakik Chapters came together to run the September Ordeal at Camp Helendade. This Ordeal was said to be the best organized and smoothest running of the year. Nine Arrowmen received their Brotherhood, 4 OA members served as Elangomats, and 29 new members were inducted in to our Order. Special thanks goes to Chris Bergh, Eddie Folts, John Garcia, Wendy Hodge, Ed Folts, and John Querns for making this Ordeal a success.

9/10/2010: Chemehuevie Clan members performed a Pre-Ordeal Ceremony at the September Ordeal. This is the first time that Chemehuevie has ever performed a ceremony at an Ordeal and the very first Pre-Ordeal ever performed by Aca members.
   
9/6/2010:  Plans are coming together for the September Ordeal that Aca will be running with Wanakik Chapter. Our Chapter will be conducting the Ordeal Cerermony and for the first time Chemehuevie Clan will be performing a Pre-Ordeal Ceremony.
9/5/2010: Here is our newest set of regalia for the Pow Wow dance team that out Chapter hosts. This regalia in this photo is for the grass dance.
9/4/2010: Deer Run Singers has been asked to open the Saturday evening campfire at the 100th Aniversary of Scout Celebration on September 25. This is a great honor for our group to be a part of this oustanding event.
August, 2010  
8/28/2010: Ceremony team rehearsals were held on Friday evening and a walkthrough of Camp Helendade by some of our members was held on Saturday. All to get ready for the September Ordeal in two weeks. Come join us and Wanakik Chapter as we run what might be the biggest and best Ordeal of the year, September 10-12.
 
8/27/2010: Chemehuevie Clan performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 2 Webelos from Pack 72 in Twentynine Palms.
 
8/22/2010: Congratulations to our new Arrowmen Brian Kocen, Sam Kocen, and Craig Hadden for completing the Ordeal Induction Weekend at Camp Emerson. Special thanks to Chase Hadden for serving as an Elangomat at this Ordeal.
   
8/14/2010: Our Chapter's very first dance practice was held in conjunction with  the drum team practice in Palm Springs. If your interested in joining then check out the drum team's rehearsal calendar by clicking here.
   
8/14/2010: The email and phone bidding portion of the Detsanvli Trade-O-Ree opens up. The ball is rolling and the count down to the main event on October 16 has begun! Click here to visit the Trade-O-Ree website.
   
8/4/2010: Several Aca members come home from the adventure of a life time, the BSA National Jamboree. Welcome back guys!
   
8/4/2010: The last OA campfire of the summer is held at Camp Emerson. Our drum team has performed every Wednesday evening from the end June to the first week of August. They've done a great job and the campfires were consistantly considered one of the highlights of the week by the campers. July, 2010  
7/23/2010: Two of our Arrowmen put on a special demonstration at summercamp on how to knap (chip) arrowheads out of obsidian. We are happy to report that out of 9 Scouts and 2 adults that watched the presentation, none were poked with an arrowhead.
   
7/23/2010: The second July Ordeal was held at Summercamp. Six new OA members joined our Order. Yamiwa, Serrano, and Aca Chapter's all cooperated to make this a successful Ordeal. Aca member James Wadlund performed at Nutekit for the Ordeal Ceremony.
   
7/20/2010: Nine of our members leave for the BSA National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. They will be spending the next few days touring Washington DC. We all pray for a safe journey for you all and hope that you have the time of your lives.
   
7/14/2010: The 3rd Quarter Aca Chapter meeting was held at Camp Emerson. Nineteen OA members escaped the heat and attended the meeting. Afterward many stayed to help out with the Wednesday night OA campfire.
   
7/14/2010: The annual Chapter service project was held at Camp Emerson. Our Chapter spearheaded spreading mulch to cover the main road and trails of the Simon's Flats camping area.
   
7/9/2010: The first of two summercamp Ordeals was held at Camp Emerson. Twentyone new Ordeal members joined our Order. The Ordeal team was made up of 2 members of Yamiwa Chapter, 1 Serrano, and Aca's own Corey Chabot who played Allowat Sakima. Congratulations guys for putting on a great ceremony.
   
7/7/2010: The second of the weekly OA campfires for summercamp is held at Camp Emerson. Our own Deer Run Singers and Arrowmen learning how to perform Pow Wow style dances will be performing. The campfires are held every Wednesday, 8PM to 9PM, through August 4.
   
June, 2010  
6/25/2010: A special gathering was held at Camp Emerson by Deer Run. Our first dancers were presented to the circle with family and friends in attendance. This is the very beginning of our long awaited dance team. Special thanks to Ward Roney for providing the photo.
   
16/20/2010: Congratulations to OA member Eddie Foltz whose Eagle Court of Honor was held today in Twentynine Palms. Several OA members were able help out at his Eagle Court.
   
6/19/2010: Introducing Lucky, our very first peice of dance regalia for Deer Run. Three Aca members spent most of Saturday putting together this northern traditional style dance bustle. It was given the nickname lucky from the horse shoe embedded around the the beaded rossette in the center of the bustle.
   
6/12/2010: Four Chemehuevie Clan members performed the last Arrow of Light Ceremony of the season for Pack 71 in Twentynine Palms. This was the first time that Aca has performed the ceremony for this Pack.
   
6/5/2010: Congratulations to our newest Arrowmen, James Wadlund, for completing the Ordeal at Camp Emerson on June 5. Also, congratulations to Mark Maloney for completing his Brotherhood at the same Ordeal. There were 42 new Arrowmen that completed the Ordeal and 8 new Brotherhood members.
   
6/3/2010: A softball team from Gilbert, AZ purchased 20 Ashley Aven bracelets from Aca when they learned about the Ashley Aven Foundation on our website. Have you got your bracelet yet? Click here to learn more.
   
May, 2010  
5/31/2010: Chemehuevie Clan members got their chance to make moccasins at their recent monthly meeting. They also rehearsed for an upcoming Arrow of Light Ceremony for Pack 71 from Twentynine Palms.
   
5/31/2010: For the 5th consecutive year Aca spearheaded the Scouts activities at the Memorial Day Ceremony held in Joshua Tree, CA. Scouts held wreaths that were presented to local fallen veteran's families. Click here to see the photos from the day.
   
5/29/2010:Eleven OA members attended Edoha Native American Skills Day. Participants got to take a tour of the Coyote Wells petroglyph site, cook frybread, and knapp arrowheads. Special thanks to: Steve, Jonathan and Tara Cambon for helping to put this event together; Bruce Miller for the petroglyph tour; Nick Dutchover and Robert Routon for the flute and drum exhibition. 5/27/2010: On May 27 Robert Routon, Cody Reddick, and Corey Chabot performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 5 Webelos from Pack 10 based in Yucaipa. The ceremony was performed at the Oak Glen Christain Conference Center in Oak Glen.
   
5/25/2010: Its time for the Spring craft classes. Seven Agua Caliente Clan members made moccasins at their meeting on May 25.
   
5/22/2010: The first Ordeal of the year is held at Camp Helendade. Four new Arrowmen have joined our Chapter when they completed the Ordeal Ceremony. Special thanks to Chase Hadden for representing Aca by serving as an Elangomat for the weekend.
   
5/16/2010: Aca Podcast 13 has been released. Special thanks to Michael Bergh for recording and editing this podcast. In this latest release we interview the National Venturing President and other region and area Venturing Officers. Click here for the podcast.
   
5/14/2010: Chemehuevie Clan members set a new taco night record by eating 60 tacos at their meeting. The previous record was held by Agua Caliente Clan by eating 58 tacos. Way to go Chemehuevie!
   
5/9/2010: The first pictures have been sent in for our "Aca Across the Country and Around the World in 2010" photo series. Print out a copy of the Aca logo and be a part of the fun.
   
5/1/2010: An onsite meeting was held at El Monty High School to prepare for the upcoming Section W4S Conclave. The theme will be "following in the footsteps of our founders". Mark your calendars for October 1-3, 2010 to attend the Conclave.
April, 2010  
4/28/2010: The youth at the April Agua Caliente Clan meeting voted on their spring craft project. We will be making plains style moccasins at the May and June OA Clan meetings. Click here for more information.
   
4/24/2010: The Chapter's camp promotion booth was set up at the Venturing Crew weekend at Camp Emerson to promote the great programs offered at our Council's camps.
   
4/17/2010: Aca's Callout ceremony team performed a callout ceremony for 10 OA candidates after the Spring Camporee at Lake Perris State Park.
   
4/17/2010: Aca members helped to run a significant portion of the Sunrise District Spring Camporee. Over 60 Scouts attended this event at Lake Perris State Park. Over 200 collective service hours were earned from this event. Speical thanks to Corey Chabot for serving as the youth camporee chairman. Click here to see the photos.
   
4/11/2010: OA member Nick Dutchover attended the National Leadership Seminar (NLS) at Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. The NLS is a comprehensive weekend long course teaching leadership skills that is put on by the OA for members of the OA.
   
4/9/2010: Several Aca members met in Joshua Tree on Friday evening to plan out our part of the Sunrise District Spring Campore.
   
4/4/2010: Deer Run Singers performed on top of Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside, CA as part of the Easter morning celebrations. Photos of the performance were published to the 4AM Project website.
   
4/3/2010: Vigil Honor Ceremonies were conducted for 3 Arrowmen who could not make the ceremonies the weekend before. Congratulations to Jerry Rounds, Robert Routon, and Robert Morgan for earning the Vigil Honor.
March, 2010
3/26/2010: Several Arrowmen helped to staff and conduct the Cedar Badge JLT at the LDS Stake Center in Palm Desert, CA. The word is that the training went fantastic.
   
3/26/2010: The Vigil Honor Ceremonies were conducted at Camp Emerson. Aca member Daniel Perry along with other members of the Vigil class of 2009 completed the ceremony. Congratulations to Daniel Perry (Aca),Donnie Eimen (Navajo), Tyler Eimen (Navajo), Ian McLeod (Serrano), Rosana McLeod (Serrano), Zach Olson (Tahquitz), Mike Radosevich (Tahquitz), Keith Weinrich (Tahquitz), Steven Weinrich (Tahquitz).  
   
3/20/2010: Aca's Arrow of Light Team performed an Arrow of Light for 8 Webelos from Ceremony for Pack 377 at Lake Cahuilla County Park.
   
3/13/2010: Members of Deer Run Singers performed at the Palm Springs PRCA Rodeo. On Saturday afternoon they performed with members of White Rose Singers in the Native Village.
   
3/13,14/2010: Aca Chapter members helped to set up and provide service at the Palm Springs PRCA Rodeo. Members also set up our tipi and ran a Boy Scout recruitment booth. Nine Scouts got to help open one session of the rodeo by holding a giant U.S. Flag.
   
3/6/2010: Deer Run Singers performed for Pack 67 and members of the community at a special dinner in Desert Hot Springs.
 
February, 2010
2/27/2010: Chemehuevie performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 3 Webelos from Pack 903 in Yucca Valley. Word from the adult leaders is that the team absolutely nailed the ceremony. GREAT JOB GUYS!
   
2/27/2010: The 2010 Cahuilla Lodge Banquet was held on February 27 at the Evergreen Masonic Lodge in Riverside. Over 100 people were in attendance. Aca, Serrano, Tahquitz, and Navajo Chapters were recognized with Honor Chapter for 2009. Robert Morgan and Mark Triplett received the Ted Green Arrowmen of the year award. Kyle Sitarski received the youth Founders Award.
 
2/25/2010: Agua Caliente Clan members performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 7 Webelos from Pack 205 in Palm Springs, CA
 
2/19/2010: OA Elections were held for Troop 36 in Joshua Tree with one Scout becoming eligible for membership in the Order of the Arrow. This brings our total number of eligible youth to 16 from the Sunrise District.
   
2/17/2010: Elections were held for Troop 229 in Twentynine Palms and and Troop 262 in Palm Springs. One youth was elected from Troop 229 and four youth from Troop 262. This brings our total of youth candidates to 15 from the Sunrise District.
   

2/9/2010: Troop 199 and Troop 76 both had their OA Elections on the same night and 3 youth were elected from those elections. On February 10 Chemehuevie Clan performed their first OA Unit Election of the season for Troop 180 in Yucca Valley. One youth was elected from the Troop. So far we have elected 10 youth from 5 separate Troops to be candidates for membership in the Order.

 
2/8/2010: Aca members Robert Routon, Corey Chabot, and James Hermes assisted a member of A-tsa Chapter with an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 2 Webelos from 322 in Beaumont.
 
2/6/2010: Aca and Deer Run Singers sponsored a hand drum making class in Riverside. 11 OA members from Tahquitz, Soboba, Wanakik, and Navajo Chapters attended the class.  A special thank you to Chase Hadden and Robert Routon for helping to teach the class.  
 
2/3/2010: Chemehuevie Clan meetings have been moved to the second Friday of every month. The location is still the same. This move is temporary through the month of June.
 
2/3/2010: OA Unit Elections were held for Troop 707 in Rancho Mirage. Three youth were elected by the Scouts in the Troop and 1 adult was nominated by the Troop Committee. This Troop is only 14 months old and this was their very first OA election.

2/1/2010: The first committee meeting for the Sunrise District Spring Camporee was held in North Palm Springs. Our Chapter will be in charge of the program, Saturday evening campfire, and the promotion of the camporee. More info. coming soon.
   
2/1/2010: The first OA Unit Election of the season was held on Monday evening for Troop 377. Three Scouts were elected to become candidates for membership in the OA.

January, 2010  
1/30/2010: Motorcycles, leathers, OA sashes and 50 Arrowmen and their families came together for the 2010 Aca Chopper Winter Potluck in Palm Springs. Cody Reddick, Jonathan Cambon, and Wendy Hodge were recipients of the 2010 Chapter Service Award. Click here for the photos.  
   
1/30/2010: OA Troop/Team Rep. training was held before the annual potluck for youth Arrowmen. Corey Chabot and his adviser, Mal Maloney, instructed the training. 
   
1/16/2010: Several of Aca's youth leaders joined other Chapter and Lodge Officers at the Lodge Leader Development (LLD) in Redlands. All of the officers were trained about various programs in the OA.
1/9/2010: Several Arrowmen came together before the AOL Bootcamp to learn how to make a 15" hand drum. This was a class that was presented by the Deer Run drum team. Click here to see the photos.  
1/9/2010: The 8th annual Arrow of Light Team Bootcamp kicked off our 2010 calendar. 17 Chapter members attended the training about how to deal with the challenges of a rowdy Arrow of Light Ceremony. Click here to see the photos.
