December, 2011  
12/12/2011: Congratulations to Scouters Mal Maloney and Ed Folts for being among the recipients for the 2011 Silver Beaver Award. This award is the highest award that a local Council can bestow to their volunteers. We are honored to count them amongst our Chapter members.
 
12/17/2011: 19 Scouts and Scouters attended the day hike that was organized by our Chapter at the Coachella Valley Preserve. We hiked a total of 7 miles and reached the peak on the Herman's Hike Trail. The views at the peak were fantastic. We could see all the way to the western shore of the Salten Sea and beautiful views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

12/10/2011: Members of our drum and dance team came together for "Feed The Beast", our last joint practice session for the year. Our special guests at the practice were members of Tiwahe Lodge's drum team. At the end of the session we all cooked frybread tacos for lunch and poked John Garcia with drum sticks.
   
12/10/2011: Special thanks to Mike Sanford and Daniel Sanford from Troop 131 for organizing an overnight outing for local Scouts to view the lunar eclipse and work on astronomy merit badge. There was over 50 people in attendance and all had a good time.
   
12/7/2011: Representatives from Agua Caliente and Chemehuevie Clans came together to decide the top Chapter youth leadership positions for 2012. Chase Hadden was selected as the 2012 Aca Chapter Chief and Ryan Munger as the 1st Vice Chief. They both are outstanding officers that will lead our members in to victory during the zombie apocalypse. 
   
12/7/2011: Congratulations to Ryan Munger who was elected as the 2012 Chemehuevie Clan Chief during their December OA meeting in Joshua Tree.
 
12/6/2011: Members of Troop 76 in Palm Desert performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 3 Webelos from Pack 131. Special thanks to Ellis Devoe and Rob Pitchford for bringing the ceremony together.
   
November, 2011  
11/22/2011: Congratulations to the Arrowmen who were elected to serve as the 2012 Agua Caliente Clan officers: Clan Chief- Chase Hadden; 1st Vice- Ryan Philbrook; Secretary- Cameron Stiede.
   
11/19/2011: Aca members joined Scouts from Troop 377 and served as the trail guides for a 7 mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail in Whitewater Canyon. The group of Scouts and Scouters from Troop 377 were a great group to hike with.
   
11/18/2011: A HUGE congratulations to Robert Routon for graduating from basic training for the US Marine Corps. Several local OA members attended the graduation at the MCRD in San Diego. Robert graduated with the rank of Private First Class because he's an Eagle Scout.
   
11/12/2011: The 2nd annual Detsanvli Trade-O-Ree was held next to the Sunrise District Merit Badge Clinic at the LDS Stake Center in Palm Desert. The trade-o-ree was a resounding success with scouts coming as far away as Orange County to attend our event. Click here to visit the trade-o-ree website.
 
11/5/2011: 4 youth and 6 adults from Aca attended the Cahuilla Lodge Fall Fellowship in Idyllwild. It snowed on Friday evening and created a winter wonderland that caused nonstop snowball fights among many Arrowmen.
   
11/5/2011: Congratulations to Corey Chabot, Chris Bergh, and Wendy Hodge for being selected as part of the 2011 Vigil Honors from Cahuilla Lodge. They were recognized during the Vigil Call Out at the Fall Fellowship.
   
October, 2011
10/17/2011: Promotional crews from the Detsanvli Trade-O-Ree  have begun visiting local troops to show some of the historical items that will be on display at the trade-o-ree. The first visit was with Troop 377 in Burmuda Dunes. 
 
10/9/2011: The Aca members running the October Ordeal met with their counterparts from Wanakik Chapter to hold a walkthrough at Lake Perris SRA. This Ordeal will be the first time that Cahuilla Lodge has ever held an Ordeal outside of a council camp. Our crack crew of Arrowmen are the best people in the lodge to be able to pull off such a task.
 
10/2/2011: Aca members were a big part of the Section W4S Conclave in Palm Springs. Our members served as a welcome crew, set up crew for the events, facility managers, and even at times property managers. We also conducted the largest raining class at the Conclave, 105 people attended our Pow Wow drum class. Great job to all of our members that helped out over the weekend!
   
10/1/2011: The newest members of our Chapter's drum team made their first public performance at the Conclave. 3 Cub Scouts from Pack 59 practiced for several weeks so they be a part of the action at the Conclave. Special thanks to them for the great performance.
   
10/1/2011: Congratulations to the Aca members that competed at the Conclave: Ryan Munger- 1st place northern traditional dancing; James Wadlund- 2nd place northern traditional dancing; Cameron Stiede- 3rd place grass dance and winner of the hand drum award; Deer Run- 1st place drum competition; Aca's camp promotion booth- 2nd place.   
   
September, 2011
9/23/2011: The Crew from Aca and Wanakik Chapters that ran the September Ordeal did such a fantastic job that they have been asked to run an additional Ordeal in October at Lake Perris State Park. Great job guys! A "do-over" in this case only means that you will do an excellent job for a second time in a row.
9/10/2011: 5 New Arrowmen joined our Chapter when they completed the September Ordeal. Welcome to Aca!
 
9/10/2011: Aca's Pre-Ordeal team performed back to back Pre-Ordeal ceremonies for 39 OA candidates at the September Ordeal. Special thanks to Chase Hadden, Cameron Stiede, Curtis Stiede, John Garcia, and Jonathan Cambon for making the ceremony happen.
   
9/10/2011: Aca and Wanakik Chapters ran the September Ordeal at Camp Emerson. 38 new Arrowmen were inducted in to our order and 8 people earned their Brotherhood. There were many compliments that this was the best organized and best run Ordeal of the year. Special thanks to Eddie Folts, Ed Folts, Wendy Hodge, Jonathan Cambon, Debbie Hadden, Craig Hadden, Chase Hadden, and Lonnie Reddick for helping out with this Ordeal.
   
9/5/2011: 16 Scouts and their families came together for the final edition of Pow Wow Nitez in Palm Springs. A potluck was held and it was followed by an evening gathering of round dance, owl dance, and a tin foil intertribal contest. It was a great way to wrap up a great summer program.
   
August, 2011  
8/27/2011: Arrowmen from Aca and Wanakik Chapters held a meet & greet session in Banning last Saturday. They discussed the specifics for the September Ordeal and how to make this the best run Ordeal of the year in Cahuilla Lodge.
 
8/24/2011: Several Arrowmen attended the Agua Caliente Clan meeting that was held alongside that week's edition of Pow Wow Nitez. Member's of Aca's Ordeal team rehearsed the ceremony, and a great time was had by all.
 
8/20/2011: Congratulations to the 3 new OA members from Aca that completed the Ordeal Induction weekend at Camp Emerson. Also, Congratulations to Sam Kocen and Brian Kocen for earning their Brotherhood.
 
8/13/2011: The W4S Section Chief, All 4 Lodge Chiefs for all the lodges in the section, their accompanying adult advisers, and various other youth leaders attended a walkthrough of the for the conclave at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Palm Springs. Two Aca members were present to lead them on the tour.
   
8/10/2011: Our drum's weekly summer program Pow Wow Nitez has officially started its second month and there are only 3 evenings left of this evening program. The average weekly attendance is 12 people and the program has been considered a definite success.
 
8/6/2011: Chase Hadden and John Garcia have returned from Indian Summer in North Carolina. There, they learned about ceremonial and dance team regalia, drumming, and other aspects of Indian Lore from some of the best experts nationally in the OA. 
 
8/6/2011: Three representatives from the Detsanvli Trade-O-Ree visited the CIEC Memorobelia Auction in Riverside. They handed out information about our trade-o-ree and got to know some new friends.
   
8/3/2011: The last OA campfire of the summer was held at Camp Emerson. There were 6 total OA campfires and the comments received from the audience was that this was the best series of shows that they had seen in many years. Special thanks to EVERYONE that helped out.
   
July, 2011  
7/27/2011: The 5th OA campfire was hosted by our Arrowmen at Camp Emerson. We welcomed 3 special gusts that evening: John Espinoza, flute player, Chericawa Apache; Dorothy Crane, woman's southern buckskin dancer, Chikisaw; and Fawn Lawson, jingle dress dancer, Torrez Martinez Reservation of Cahuilla. 7/27/2011: Three of our Arrowmen put on a 2 knapping demonstrations (chipping arrowheads) at the Native Village at Camp Emerson for over 20 Scouts.
   
7/20/2011:  Eight Arrowmen participated in Aca's annual service project at Camp Emerson. W repainted many chairs and benches around the main lodge of the camp.
   
7/16/2011: Four Aca members, along with 2 other members of Deer Run, travelled to Balboa Park on Saturday to teach 34 OA members from Tiwahe Lodge about Pow Wow drumming and singing. Everyone had a great day and our guys did a fantastic job! Click here to see the photos on Aca's facebook page.
 
7/6/2011: The second OA campfire of the summer at Camp Emerson was put on by 5 Aca members. It was wet outside due to a monsoon that drenched the camp, so the campfire was held inside the dinning hall. It went extremely well with 67 people in the audience.
   
June, 2011  
6/29/2011: Nine Aca members traveled to Camp Emerson to put on the first Order of the Arrow campfire of the summer. The first campfire went extremely well and there were over 150 people in the audience.
   
6/28/2011: The "Chabot Open" golf tornament was held tonight after the Agua Caliente Clan meeting. Congratulations to Sam Kocen for winning the tournament.
   
6/27/2011: Thank you to the 15 people that attended pow wow nitez on June 27. It was great fun. A special thank you goes out to Chase Hadden for teaching the scouts about the pow wow drum.
 
6/20/2011: 12 Scouts and their families attended the first of the weekly Pow Wow Nitez in Palm Springs that is hosted by our Chapter.
   
6/17 & 22/2011: Aca Chapter members travelled to Camp Emerson in Idyllwild to work with members of the BSA summercamp staff on putting together the show for the weekly OA campfires.
6/6/2011: On Monday evening 3 members of Deer Run performed a drum & dance exhibition for over 30 Cub Scouts and their families from Pack 59 in Desert Hot Springs. If you ever have a chance to visit one of their Pack meetings then do it. They were a great crowd and a lot of fun.
 
6/4/2011: The June Ordeal Induction Weekend was held at Camp Emerson in Idyllwild. Congratulations to the 6 New Arrowmen that joined our Chapter from Troops 262, 377, and 131.

   

May, 2011  
5/28/2011: The Detsanvli Spring Gathering was held in the town of Joshua Tree. 21 Arrowmen and their families attended an evening exhibition of pow wow songs and dance. The infamous tin foil intertribal was also held with 2 new shiny dancers showing off their handiwork.
   
5/28/2011: The Areacorps 2 service project was held in Joshua Tree National Park. Seven Aca members, along with members of Troop 77 from Twentynine Palms, participated in the service project. They worked on trail restoration in the Horse Thief area of the park.
   
5/24/2011: Unknown to the rest of the country, Aca members helped to defend the human race from the zombie apocalypse. A zombie invaded the OA meeting so the Arrowmen decided to play a game of zombie dodgeball. Aca saves the world again.
   
5/21/2011: Congratulations to Aca member Ryan Munger for completing his Brotherhood in our order at the Ordeal this weekend at Camp Helendade.
   
5/19/2011: A special thank you to James Wadlund, Ben Quigliani, Daniel Sanford, Corey Chabot, and Ellis Devoe for performing a great Arrow of Light Ceremony for Pack 131 and Call Out for Troops 76 & 131 in Palm Desert.
   
5/14/2011: Five Arrowmen attended the Deer Run workshop in Palm Springs. The featured craft project that day was feather painting, although one person used the opportunity to paint their hand drum. Two members of the dance team also had an excellent practice. The picture to the right is after they had danced almost constantly for 50 minutes. Normally they don't look that beat.
   
5/11/2011: Chemehuevie Clan had an excellent meeting in Joshua Tree. Three Ordeal members attended the Brotherhood training class and are ready to seal their ties in brotherhood at one of the upcoming Ordeal Induction weekends. Planning and a walkthrough for the Detsanvli Mini-Tribal Gathering was also held.
   
5/9/2011: The High Desert Star newspaper recently published an article about OA member Ryan Munger and a camporee he ran for local Cub Scouts in Yucca Valley. Click here to read the article.
   
5/1/2011: Our very own Deer Run performed at the Stagecoach Music Festival on April 30 and May 1. The shows were a hit and the crowd loved the our performances. Members of the team, Pack 131, and the Girl Scouts also helped with the childeren's activities in the Half Pint Hoot-N-Nanny area. Click here to see the photos from Stagecoach.
   
April, 2011  
4/26/2011: Agua Caliente Clan had a great meeting last night. Over 15 Arrowmen showed up for the meeting and carne asada BBQ. Five Ordeal members attended the Brotherhood training class before the meeting.
 
4/23/2011: Four members of Deer Run performed at the Ohlone Pow Wow in Pomona. They were invited by a committee member and this was the first time that they have performed at a Native American gathering of this type. There were many thanks and compliments received from the tribe, dancers, and members of the general public. It was a good day! 
   
4/23/2011: Three Aca members helped teach a class on how to make hand drums to 10 students at Sherman Indian High School in Riverside. It was a blast and special thanks to Jocie Montez Villa for inviting us to help out.  
   
4/10/2011: The 2nd Quarter Aca Chapter meeting was held at the Sunrise District Spring Camporee at Lake Perris. 7 OA members helped to staff the Spring Camporee and performed the evening Call Out ceremony. 11 New OA Candidates were recognised at the Call Out.
March, 2011  
3/27/2011: Deer Run Singers performed once on Saturday and twice on Sunday at the Palm Springs WestFest and Rodeo in front of the Palm Springs Convention Center. The crowd had high reviews of their performance.
   
3/19/2011: OA members Ryan Romero, James Wadlund, and Dean Lakoutas performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for Webelos from Pack 377 at Lake Cahuilla County Park.
   
3/19/2011: Deer Run held the second anniversary of their founding by holding a small potluck and mini pow wow in Palm Springs.
   
3/1/2011: Our spring craft project was decided by our youth leaders. We will be working as a group starting in late April to make a feather bustle similar to the one pictured here.
 
3/2/2011: Members of Aca's Call Out Team are getting together to prep for the annual Call Out Ceremony that will be held at the Saturday night campfire at the Sunrise District Spring Camporee, April 8-10. The callout team will be meeting weekly to rehearse for the ceremony.
 
3/2/2011: Special thanks to Tara Cambon and Fawn Cambon for the great work putting together the new headresses for our ceremony teams. The headdresses should be ready to use in the next few months.
   
February, 2011   

2/26/2011: Cody Reddick was honored at the Cahuilla Lodge Banquet with the John Mulkern Indian Affairs Award. This is the first time this award has been given in 8 years. It is designed to honor a youth Arrowmen who has demonstrated an ongoing excellence in the area of Native American affairs in our Lodge.

   
2/26/2011: Congratulations to Chris Bergh and Billy Warren who were both honored by the James E. West Fellowship Fund for their active service in our order. They were recognized at the Cahuilla Lodge Banquet in Norco. A $1000 donation will be made in Chris's name for camperships in our Council.
   
2/26/2011: Thank you to everyone for coming to the Cahuilla Lodge Banquet on Feb. 26 in Norco. Twelve Arrowmen along with over 140 people attended a great evening of recognition and fellowship. Aca was awarded as a 2010 Honor Chapter along with Tahquitze and Serrano Chapters.
 
2/26/2011: Chemehuevie Clan performed an Arrow of Light Ceremony for 5 Webelos from Pack 903 in Yucca Valley. Special thanks to Ryan Munger, Jonathan Cambon, and James Luna for putting on the ceremony.
 
2/24/2011: Agua Caliente's Arrow of Light Team performed an AOL Ceremony for Webelos from Pack 205 in Palm Springs. Special thanks to Chase Hadden, Cameron Stiede, Dereick Yovino, Curtis Stiede, and Beth Wilbrecht for putting on the ceremony.
 
2/23/2011: An OA Unit Election was conducted for Troop 262 and 104. In total, 10 11 new Scouts were recognised by their peers for membership in our Order.  
 
2/19/2011: Two Aca members attended the Wiatava Trade-O-Ree in Santa Ana to represent our Detsanvli Trade-O-Ree. There was a great exchange of information and there are several great ideas for our TOR in October.
   
2/19/2011: Chemehuevie Clan performed the first Arrow of Light Ceremony of the year for 3 Webelos from Pack 78. The ceremony was held at the tank park on the MCAGCC. YES, this means that the ceremony was conducted around tanks! The bridge used for the crossover ceremony was laid down by a AVLB. Special thanks to Jonathan Cambon, James Luna, Ed Folts, and Teresa Flug for putting on the ceremony.
   
2/14/2011: The first OA Unit Election of the year was conducted for Troop 377 on February 14. This is the most important function of the year for us. This is when fellow Scouts in a Troop can recognise their peers who best live up to the Scout Oath and Law in their daiy lives.    
   
2/12/2011: Over 50 Scouts from 3 different BSA Councils and guests attended the Detsanvli Conference & Pow Wow. Everyone there got to experience how to make hand drums, gourd rattles, feather fans, beading, learn various Pow Wow dances, and play a variant of stickball. Over 140 people attended a fantastic evening Pow Wow that was hosted by Deer Run Singers and students from Sherman Indian High School. White Rose Singers wowed the crowd with an outstanding performance during an exhibition. Click here to see the photos.  
   
January, 2011  
1/29/2011: 57 Arrowmen and their families came together in Palm Springs for the 2011 Aca Chapter Winter Potluck... of DOOM! Congratulations to Corey Chabot and Steve Cambon for their receiving the 2011 Chapter Service Award and thank you to everyone who made 2010 a fantastic year. Click here to see the photos.
 
1/26/2011: Deer Run Singers performed a short drum and dance exhibition at the end of Troop 262's Court of Honor in Palm Springs.
 
1/22/2011: 5 Aca members attended the Sunrise District Dinner. They helped to helped to set up, perform opening flags, serve food, and clean up.
 
1/19/2011: Four members of Aca's drum team travelled to Sherman Indian High School in Riverside to meet with students and take part in their Pow Wow class night.
 
1/15/2011: Over 50 Arrowmen attended the 2011 Lodge Leader Development Conference (LLD) at the the Council Service in Redlands. Lodge Chief Ian McLeod and his officers ran an outstanding program for our youth leaders and their adult advisers.
   
1/14/2011: Jonathan Cambon represented our Chapter at the Scoutmaster Outdoor Training in Joshua Tree. He served as one of the instructers and taught the class for proper campsite selection.
   
1/12/2011: Four members of Aca's drum team travelled to Sherman Indian High School in Riverside to meet with students and take part in their Pow Wow class night.
 
1/8/2011: The 2011 Aca Chapter Planning Meeting was held on Saturday morning. A bulk of the Chapter's youth officers and advisers came together for a group think tank and lessons on how to act as a more effective team. Ian McLeod, the 2011 Cahuilla Lodge Chief, was a special guest trainer. Click here to see photos from the Planning meeting.  
   
1/8/2011: Several Arrowmen came together for the 2011 AOL Bootcamp. Here, they learned how to deal with the sometimes crazy distractions that can happen during an Arrow of Light Ceremony. Click here to see photos from the AOL Bootcamp.  
   
1/8/2011: The first quarter Detsanvli Mini Pow Wow was held on Saturday evening in Palm Springs. Over 25 people attended an evening of social dancing and Native song.This was held as a shakedown cruise for the Pow Wow on Feb. 12. Click here to see photos from the mini Pow Wow.
